Day 6: Mount Kilimanjaro Climb - Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp

This is the highlight of your 12 days safari and Mount Kilimanjaro climb adventure! Just after midnight, we wake up to embark on the challenging ascent, known as the 'final assault,' which lasts approximately 12 to 17 hours. We start our trek at around 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM, depending on individual fitness levels assessed by your guide. The route takes us between the Rebmann and Tarzel glaciers to the rim, culminating at Stella Point, a significant milestone on our journey up Mount Kilimanjaro. Temperatures can plummet just below freezing at midnight, reaching between 10°F (-12°C) and -10°F (-23°C) before dawn, which is quite cold even by African standards. As dawn approaches, we will reach the summit at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, standing at 19,341 feet (5895 meters above sea level). This achievement comes after an intense 6-7 hours of upward hiking. After celebrating and capturing photos at the peak, we will descend back to Barafu Camp for a brief rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp (10,105 feet), which takes another 3-4 hours. It’s a long and rewarding day, so remember to hydrate and follow your guide’s advice. All meals are included.

Day 7: Completion of Mount Kilimanjaro Climb - Mweka Camp to Park Gate and Arusha

On the final day of your Mount Kilimanjaro climb, you'll enjoy breakfast at Mweka Camp before embarking on your descent to the Mweka Gate of Kilimanjaro National Park. This downhill trek takes about 2-3 hours. At the Park Gate, you’ll bid farewell to your Kilimanjaro guide and porters before a vehicle takes you to Arusha. Here, you can relax and prepare for your upcoming Tanzania safari, which starts tomorrow, exploring the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit. Overnight accommodations will be at Tulia Boutique Hotel & Spa or Mvuli Hotel in the outskirts of Arusha town, with breakfast included.

Day 8: Tanzania Safari - Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your Arusha lodge, your exciting 12 days safari and Mount Kilimanjaro climb transition begins as you head to Tarangire National Park, one of the highlights of the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit. Upon arrival, there’s a brief stop at the park gate for entry paperwork before your first thrilling game drive. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds and impressive baobab trees, with the Tarangire River being the lifeline that attracts various wildlife year-round. Expect to spot elephants, lions, zebras, warthogs, gazelles, and possibly leopards during your visit. In the afternoon, you’ll head to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at Pamoja Olea Farm Lodge or Country Lodge. All meals are included

Day 9: Tanzania Safari - Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park

Following breakfast at the tented lodge in Tarangire, your safari continues with a drive to Serengeti National Park, traversing the picturesque Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving by midday. After a brief stop at the Naabi Hill Gate for registration and possibly a picnic lunch, embark on exhilarating game drives in the heart of Serengeti National Park, particularly in the wildlife-rich Seronera Valley. You will continue exploring the park throughout the afternoon and check into a safari tented camp by 6 PM for dinner and overnight. You may enjoy a cozy campfire experience under the stars. All meals are included.

Day 10: Full Day at Serengeti National Park

Embark on a thrilling day of exploration in the iconic Serengeti National Park, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. Early risers can opt for a sunrise game drive to witness the park come alive at dawn. After a hearty breakfast, dive into the vast plains that inspired the Maasai word ‘Siringit,’ meaning endless plains. The Serengeti is not only home to the Big Five but also hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration, a spectacular event occurring from October to August each year. Your expert safari guide will navigate you to the best spots for wildlife viewing, ensuring memorable encounters. If the migrating herds are further north, consider extending your stay for a more leisurely exploration. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Visitors Center, designed to enhance your safari experience. As the sun sets, retire to Serengeti Osinon Camp for dinner and an evening around the campfire, sharing stories of the day's adventures. All meals are included.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater Tour

After a remarkable experience in the Serengeti, we set off early to the Ngorongoro Crater. Our journey includes a stop at Naabi Hill Gate for registration before descending the stunning 600-meter-high walls into this UNESCO World Heritage Site, often referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. Spend your day exploring the crater floor, a natural haven teeming with wildlife. The Ngorongoro Crater spans approximately 21 kilometers and provides an incredible opportunity to observe the African Big Five: elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, and the elusive black rhinos. As the day winds down, ascend the crater walls and check in at a cozy lodge within the conservation area or nearby Karatu. Overnight accommodations at Pamoja Africa Farm Lodge or Country Lodge Karatu include all meals.
